Access to reliable chronic care has long been a challenge in the Nyanza region—until now. Located in the calm, green surroundings of Milimani Estate in Kisumu, Danid Centre for Chronic Illness stands as the only registered palliative care hospital in Nyanza, offering a level of care previously unavailable in the region. We’re proud to serve patients from Kisumu, Siaya, Homabay, Migori, Kakamega, and beyond.
As a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), Danid is built to manage complex medical conditions that require continued care over weeks or months. These patients are usually recovering from ICU stays, major surgeries, or living with chronic conditions that cannot be managed from home or in a typical outpatient clinic. Unlike traditional hospitals, our environment and staffing are optimized for long-term treatment, not emergency interventions.
Our multidisciplinary team delivers a focused selection of services including stroke and rehabilitation, oncology and palliative care, critical and long-term care, and home-based follow-up. Each program at Danid is backed by specialized clinical protocols and a team that understands the nuances of chronic illness—ensuring that care is both evidence-based and deeply empathetic.
Danid is also a center for training, research, and community health education, building future capacity in chronic and palliative care. Our holistic approach means we care for not only the body but also the mind and spirit—offering support groups and caregiver education to ease the burden on families and promote well-being.
Families in Nyanza no longer need to look outside the region for this level of care. Let us walk the journey of healing with you.
